To show how Movement Control Oder (MCO) affecting coral reefs in many aspects such as biological which is anthropogenic threats for instance the pollution and physical damage prior MCO versus when we take human out of the picture. Other than biological aspect the topic that will be discuss is conservation and monitoring aspect, Marine Protected Area (MPA) management aspect and social-economy aspect. Overall, this topic will show what is happening to coral reefs during this MCO period and how do humans help in maintaining our coral reefs during this period.

Alvin Chelliah
Programme Manager/ Pengurus Program Marine Biologist at Reef Check Malaysia
Alvin Chelliah has been diving since he was in high school. After completing his Master’s Degree in Marine Science from the National University of Malaysia, he joined Reef Check. Over the last six years, Alvin has been busy promoting community involvement in marine resource management on Tioman Island. He has also been actively promoting the Green Fins approach to sustainable diving around Malaysia since 2014. Alvin is a Marine Scientist by training. Alvin joined RCM in 2011 and has been living on Tioman Island since 2014, running the Cintai Tioman community programme. He and his colleagues on Tioman have been working closely with the local community towards building social and ecological resilience on the island.
