We welcome you to join us to learn more about SOA's global campaign against seabed mining. On this webinar, we will begin by providing a brief overview of SOA's seabed mining campaign activities in 2020.

Then, we are excited to host an exclusive presentation and conversation on 'Building a youth-led campaign against seabed mining' with Daniel Cáceres Bartra, leader of SOA Peru and passionate youth policy advocate for the ocean.

We hope that this conversation provides insight and a time to ask questions as we encourage SOA’s global community of Ocean Leaders to get informed and involved in our global campaign against seabed mining.

At the end of the webinar, we will outline specific opportunities for SOA’s young leaders to get involved further in 2020!

Daniel Cáceres Bartra

Founder, SOA Peru

Daniel Cáceres Bartra is the 25 year old Founder and leader of the Sustainable Ocean Alliance hub in Peru.  He also is the Cofounder of the collective group 'Taking care of the ocean.'  Daniel has worked across many marine biodiversity and conservation projects, from working with humpback whales to registering new reefs in the North of Peru.
 
Daniel also has been a vocal voice for the Peruvian ocean in both national and international policy events. He has participated in the 'Our Ocean' conference since 2016 and presented at conferences in most Peruvian universities. Notably, Daniel has worked In Peru to influence Congress and political candidates to incorporate an ocean agenda into national policy and even organized the first ocean hearing and youth climate summit in Peru's Congress, with over 150 youth participating from around Peru.
 
In 2015, Daniel was the youngest divemaster in Peru and in 2016 he won the national Hreljac Medal, for being the youth with the biggest impact on national sustainable development.  Moreover, in 2017 he won the Agent of Change award from the scientific University of the South. Daniel currently is passionate about serving as a champion and building a youth-led campaign in Peru against seabed mining, both in international and Peruvian waters.
